Logo design projects that begin without a structured brief produce misaligned results. Designers make assumptions about color preferences that the client has strong opinions about. Business context that would inform the creative direction is never shared. Competitive differentiation that should be reflected in the logo is not communicated. The first round of concepts misses the mark, revision cycles multiply, and both sides spend time correcting problems that a thorough intake process would have prevented.
The Logo Design Questionnaire template for SharePoint, built with Infowise Ultimate Forms, gives design agencies and freelancers a structured client intake form that captures company details, business context, competitive positioning, target audience, brand preferences, project logistics, and an optional current logo upload. Every submission is stored as a complete brief record in SharePoint.
How it works
Company and contact details
The form captures the client's company name, email address, phone number, company website URL, and optionally their Facebook URL. These details establish the basic client record and give the design team immediate access to the client's existing online presence as context for the brief.
Business context
Three open-ended questions capture the business context that informs the creative direction. The client describes their business or service in a single sentence, outlines their short, medium, and long-term business goals, and identifies their main competitors and how they differ from them. A fourth question captures who the potential clients are and where the business will be publicized. Together these fields give the designer the strategic and audience context needed to make informed creative decisions rather than relying on aesthetic intuition alone.
Logo concept and brand preferences
A dedicated brand preferences section captures whether the client already has a specific logo concept in mind, which colors they want to include, which colors they want to avoid, and whether they have a preferred font. A words field asks the client to describe the qualities or attributes the logo should convey, and a separate field captures whether the logo will include a tag line. These structured preferences reduce the risk of the designer working in a direction the client would have immediately rejected had the question been asked at the outset.
Project logistics
The form captures the target date for the logo to be web and print ready, the client's budget, whether they are interested in additional design services alongside the logo, and where the logo will be used. Capturing scope, budget, and timeline at the intake stage gives the agency the information needed to resource the project appropriately and set accurate expectations before work begins.
Current logo upload
An optional file upload field allows clients to attach their existing logo directly to the brief record. Having the current logo linked to the intake submission gives the designer immediate visual context for the client's existing brand identity without requiring a separate email or file transfer.
