Creating a New Form

The new Form Designer tool gives users the ability to create and manage advanced dynamic forms that are compatible with the SharePoint Modern experience.

The new tool has several advantages over the older tabbed form tool, both for design and functionality.

You can use the Form Designer to create input forms for both lists and libraries. You also have the ability to create different forms for new, edit and view.

NOTE for O365 users: You must install the Ultimate Forms Extensions to be fully operational with the Modern experience. Download the extension file from the Infowise site.

Instructions

In the SharePoint Modern experience, the link for Ultimate Forms will be on the menu bar of your list or library (if it’s not visible, you can also get to Ultimate Forms via the site contents).

The Ultimate Forms home page has a new and improved look.

Verify you’re working in the list or library you want.

To open the Actions feature, click the Form designer link in the Modern forms section of the menu.

If this is the first time you’ve used the Form Designer with the list or library, you’ll be asked if you’d like to create a default form, which will prepopulate with all the available fields. This is probably a good idea, especially for novices; you will have the ability to show or hide any field as you move forward, but the default provides an easy place to start from.

Click OK to generate the default form; click Cancel to start with a completely blank slate.

Summary

The new Form Designer tool gives users the ability to create and manage advanced dynamic forms that are compatible with the SharePoint Modern experience.
