Simple First Time Associated Items Step by Step

Instructions

1. Create a custom list named Projects:

2. Create a custom list named Deliverables:

3. In your Deliverables list, go to List Settings:

4. Go to Advanced Settings:

5. Change the Allow management of content types to "Yes":

6. Click on the "Item" link on the settings page as shown:

7. Select "Delete this content type":

8. In the list settings screen, click on "Add from existing site content types":

9. Select the "Infowise" category, select "Infowise Associated Item" then click the "Add" button then OK:

10. Go to the Projects list, click the list tab, then click the "Design" button (puzzle pieces):

11. In the "Configure Columns" section click the "Associated Items" link:

12. IF USING SHAREPOINT ONLINE FOLLOW STEPS 13 and 14 (Office 365). IF USING SHAREPOINT ON PREM FOLLOW STEPS 13 AND 13 (On Prem).

13. (Office 365) Enter the name of your new field "Deliverables" to be added to the "Projects" list. Make sure that "Deliverables" is set as your "Child list", then click the "Create" button at the bottom:

14. (Office 365) Check for the "Completed Successfully" dialog, then click "Close":

13. (On Prem) Enter the field name "Deliverables" and verify the field type is set as "Infowise Associated Items":

 

14. (On Prem) Make sure that "Deliverables" is set for "List" and that it shows "Content Type" as "Associated Item" then click "OK":

 

15. Open a Project record and add some deliverables to test functionality:

Summary

These steps show the most basic set up. After changing the content type in the child list, you can add and reconfigure fields as needed.
