Email-enabling SharePoint lists or setting up automatic import from databases is a common business need. Unfortunately, it's not as easy as it should be. You can only import your emails into document libraries or discussion lists and even then there is not much you can do to affect the way the process works. With our upcoming Smart Import Pro, it's all going to change. You will be able to assign multiple import profiles to any list or library. In each profile you specify the import schedule and connection to mailbox or database (MS SQL, Oracle, OLE DB, ODBC). Then you assign actions to the profile; an action can create new items (and you decide what goes where) or update existing item (so you can set up an approval process by simply replying with word "Approve"!) |
